Ident

in order to create my ident i used the stop motion app that i downloaded on my phone,
i set up a gorilla tripod to hold my phone still while i took the photos on stop motion.
we chose to use an old cog from a broken clock as our ident as it is suitable for the era,
'cog winder' means 'a good punch' in black country dialect.
this is the final cut of the ident i mad, it is 24 sets long.

this is the ident on our video, i managed to email it to myself. we copied and pasted it to make it seem longer, we the record the sounds of the cogs to put over the video.

Props used in the ots

Props:

We borrowed the gun from school and I borrowed the glass and pocket watch from my nan and granddad.
The brown paper I a made over the weekend using coffee granules, soaking the paper for about an hour in a small tray then drying in on a radiator.
The hat I bought at my local charity shop, it cost £4.99.

Actors for OTS

We are have used two actors for our OTS.
Ethan Rundle and Oliver Harman-Howes.

Opening title sequence so far

Over the weekend we filmed the first half of our opening title sequence. we made changes to the costume because we could only use what was available to us, one person had a fitted dark grey suit and the other a smart black coat, we filmed in Rubys dinning room and down the side of the house, a long alley, the lighting was very affective as it was all filmed in black and white.

During the ots the titles will appear with the names of the actors, we have decided to add them randomly as all the actors wont feature in it. still photos will also be included to add the the creepy effect.

Continuity task

Our task was to put together a video that helped us to understand continuity within A level media.

We were given rules to stick to including:

The 180 degree angle:

This diagram is very simple and  helps me understand this shot most as it is clear and shown what is right.
While filming you had to stay on one side of the action. while each character is talking the camera is facing the from behind the other character without breaking the 180 degree rule.

Search of Match on action:
Match on action (or cutting on action) is an editing technique for continuity editing in which one shot cuts to another shot portraying the action of the subject in the first shot.

Search of Shot reverse shot:
Shot reverse shot (or shot/countershot) is a film technique where one character is shown looking at another character (often off-screen), and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character. Since the characters are shown facing in opposite directions, the viewer assumes that they are looking at each other.

Costume and Prop Mood Board.

Costume and prop mood board, what we will be using.

Costume:

  • tweed suit/black suits
  • flat caps
  • white collar shirt with stripes
These will be part of the costumes with will be using in our opening title sequence, however instead of having tweed suits they will most liking be wearing just the whit collar shirt and a coat as the tweed suits are expensive, we have decided that the shoes will be black as they wont been seen very often.

Props:

  • pocket watch
  • cigarettes
  • guns
  • whisky glass
These are the main props that will be featured in our opening title sequence, we have decided to leave out the whisky bottle as it would be difficult to find one from the era, as well as the gun which isn't from the era but we will avoid any close ups with it to prevent to audience from noticing and pointing it out.
